This is my personal app. One user, one password, my meal plan. The code is public. The login page will tell you that you shall not pass.

Kal is a Claude assistant with write access to my food log. It knows my profile, my meal plan, and what I have eaten today.

On a normal day I do not talk to it at all. I tap a meal on the Today screen and it is logged. Off-plan days are the whole reason it exists: I tell it what I am about to eat, it finds real macros, rewrites the rest of today to fit, and logs what actually happened. The plan template is never touched.

The Today screen on a phone: calorie ring with remaining kcal, segmented macro bars, a meal checklist with one meal checked the whole day on one screen. tap a meal, it's logged. tap again, it's not.

the one rule

The model once saw 6× Chicken breast, guessed a serving size, and handed me a 372 g protein day. Never again:

kal does not guess numbers. every food line arrives resolved: weight, unit, macros.

The numbers come from a grocery library of things I actually buy, with label macros. When something new comes up, it checks nutrition databases first, then asks me for a product link or a photo of the label, and only then estimates, labeled as an estimate, which I have to approve before it writes anything.

the screens

The chat screen mid conversation: a tool card with an Undo button, a remaining-today stat strip, and the model and cost readout an off-plan day in progress. every write gets an undo button, and the running cost shows while i type. a full conversation is about three cents.
The Plan screen: a 3D figure mid drag-rotate, with a weekly adherence strip and weight trend chart below the plan. drag the figure and it spins. adherence and weight trend live below it.
The Groceries screen on white: product photo rows, kcal and protein pills, shelf bands grouping items by meal the grocery library, where the numbers come from. things i actually buy, with label macros.
